The CCB is an independent, non-governmental, 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that offers certification for addiction counselors, clinical supervisors, co-occurring disorders and prevention professionals in Connecticut. The Board has established specialty certificates in substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and problem gambling for professionals licensed and credentialed in other behavioral healthcare domains.

Wallingford, CT– The new CAC – Certified Addiction Counselor application is now available on the CCB website which contains the recently published revised CAC credentialing standards as well as several improvements to the certification process and application materials. The new application replaces all previously published CAC applications and will be required of all new CAC candidates after the September 2010 deadline. All CAC candidates with applications that have already met standards or are actively certified will not be impacted by the new application and/or standard changes.
All candidates with a pending CAC application that have not yet met the standards for the credential as of September 1, 2010 will be required to meet the new standards and complete the new application materials. Candidates with a pending CAC application will receive a mailed copy of the new application and be offered assistance to complete the application process according to the new standards. All pending CAC candidates are strongly encouraged to review the new application and credentialing standards.
Individuals with questions about the new standards and certification process are strongly recommended to attend one of the free CCB Certification Process Overview workshops or register for a CCB Certification Process Coaching Session offered by CCB staff. Information and registration forms for these sessions can be found in the current CCB Training Catalog.
